Purpose
The purpose of the honor society is to recognize and encourage scholarship among home school students. The members will commit to maintain high scholastic standards, and participate in service to their community.
Requirements
Students may apply as early as spring of their 8th grade year. High school seniors must submit applications before October 31st of their senior year. Membership is open to all home school students who apply with the following:
1.Completed application form signed by parent.
2.A 3.5 GPA based on 4.0 scale. Must submit signed copy with application.
3.A test score of 1800 (SAT) or 180 (PSAT) or a 90% on the composite battery on the IOWA, Stanford, California, or other nationally normed standardized achievement test. Must submit copy with the application.
Process
Application form with attachments should be mailed to and reviewed by the honor society sponsor. Upon approval, the new member shall receive a letter of acceptance.
Members must attend honor society meetings unless an excuse is submitted in writing. The dates of the meetings will be emailed in advance to all members. Two meetings per year will be scheduled.
Members must serve 5 hours in service projects annually. The member must serve these hours independently and submit a list of service activities and hours. This list must be signed by the member and the parent, and submitted to the sponsor by May 1st each year.
In order to receive a certificate or a cord (seniors), the member must contact the sponsor and submit appropriate funds.
