Process/Purpose

In this class students will use robotics to explore the fundamentals of engineering and electronics. The course will consist of small lectures including principles of engineering, physics, electronics, mechanics, and computer programming. We will experiment with the principles through building simple to complex robots to demonstrate these principles. While building the robots, students will learn the function of basic electronic components such as cpu, sensors, receivers, controls, etc.. The design process will be emphasized as the robots are tested and their designs are modified to perform certain task. Programming and robotics control will be emphasized during the last half of the year.

Additionally each robot kit supports the learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M). The ES series of kits comes with instruction manuals on the CD that can be used to learn additional information, covering Physics, Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics. These easy to understand information components help integrate Robotic to the basics aspects of S.T.E.M. This programming is done on an easy to use graphical user interface, which shows how you connect one input activity to one output activity.

Programming requires access to a PC with Windows and a USB Interface. (Robot will have a basic program preloaded during the 2nd lab)
