Process
Yearbook is a fun, rewarding class, but prospective students and parents will want to read further so they understand all that is entailed in yearbook production. Deadlines (with our publisher) are very important and will be met. Therefore, each student’s completion of homework assignments is critical to supporting a yearbook team. All homework is graded, with part of the grade attributed to the timeliness of the submission. Since much of the yearbook work is produced outside of class, it is in the student’s best interest to be well-prepared for independent journalistic-style writing and design assignments.
Since the yearbook will be purchased by One Day Academy families, this will be an excellent opportunity for students to learn how to produce a professional product, and for them to be exposed to the graphics and publishing world. Students who have yearbook experience often can gain access to similar opportunities in college and beyond.
Software and instruction in its use are provided by the yearbook publishing company. In order for students to complete homework assignments (page layouts, etc.), high-speed internet access on a PC computer is required. If this is a difficulty, please talk with Mrs. Peisker. As stated earlier, since meeting deadlines is integral to successful publishing, high school credit (1/2 credit per year) and grades will be awarded for those who regularly complete homework assignments on time.
