Methodical Bible Study

Suggested Age

12 - 18

Prerequisite

Process

This class will serve to empower students to study the Bible.

This is not a theology class. Students will be taught to look at and analyze Scripture. Students will learn to develop their own step by step approach to which they can then apply to the study of any biblical passage The class will also emphasize the employment of induction in order to help interpret passages. The student will learn skills of observation, learn to note literary devices employed, conduct simple word studies, and note word forms all in order to help interpret Scripture for themselves. We will study the books of Mark and Philippians. Extra biblical helps will be introduced as available such as concordances, bible dictionaries, theological word books, etc. with the express last resort of commentaries only after inductive study has been completed. Extra biblical helps will not be required for purchase. Class assignments will include completed outline of book being studied including chapter titles, simple word study, and final test over literary devices.
