Student must be a good reader and willing to participate in class discussions analyzing various works.

Purpose

Students will learn to enjoy and interpret the novel and to understand themselves better in terms of the American Experience.

Curriculum

American Novel - The Scarlet Letter, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and other classics. Homework: much reading, some writing.
