Purpose
The students will progressively master their Grammar skills in recognizing and understanding the eight parts of speech and their functions in a sentence, sentence types, memorization of prepositions, irregular verbs and helping verbs, understanding subject/verb agreement and pronoun/antecedent agreement, capitalization and punctuation, homonyms, synonyms, antonyms, and more. The students will enhance their grammar skills as they locate and identify various parts of speech in diagramming sentences. Students will develop a stronger grammatical foundation to enhance their writing skills.
Students are introduced to many genres of writing, i.e. metaphors, idioms, similes, wordless, limericks, and more, to include the writing process to write a book report. The students will learn to find the writer within themselves through various fun writing activities.
