Purpose

This course is designed to be a first year high school chemistry course and gives the student a rigorous foundation in Chemistry in order to prepare for college sciences.

The course covers significant figures, units, classification, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, Lewis structures, molecular geometry, and the gas laws. All of these topics are thoroughly explained in the text and covered in lab. The labs include hand-on experiments in lab groups with all safety equipment provided.

All Chemistry labs include keeping and maintaining a lab notebook, following assignments given in the Text and lab, quizzes and curriculum tests.
