This course is designed to follow Apologia Biology I as an additional science that can be utilized as a Biology II credit.

Purpose

Marine Biology concentrates on marine wildlife and habitats. It provides a survey of members of each biological kingdom that live in marine environments. The student will learn about the microscopic organisms that make life in the ocean possible, including details about habitats and life cycles.

The student will also learn the anatomy of specific animals and perform dissections as well as microscope study, examples include clam, starfish, shark. Marine ecosystems, coral reefs, intertidal zones, continental shelf communities, and deep ocean life will be covered as well as our responsible management and use of the sea God created.

This course culminates in a trip to Port Aransas to the University of
Texas Marine Science Center and an off shore trip on the UT Katy.
Samples at different depths are taken and analyzed by the students.
