Algebra 1

Course Description:

This course is the first of Saxon’s two-course sequence which integrates geometry into the algebraic sequence. This allows a student to get to calculus before graduation. The course content includes equations and functions (linear, radical, quadratic, rational, and exponential), polynomials, factoring, systems of equations, rate, surface area and volume, ratios and proportion, scientific notation, introduction to statistics, and Pythagorean theorem. A supplementary Geometry proofs course may be taken over the summer, or students may elect to take a year-long traditional Geometry course.
